04 — Video Editing
Importing Video
- In the left panel, expand Video Segments.
- Click Add Video (or the import button) and select one or more video files from your computer.
- Still images (PNG, JPG, WebP) can also be added as video segments — they display as a still frame with a configurable hold duration.
- Each imported file appears as a segment in both the Video Segments panel and the timeline.
Supported formats: MP4, MOV, WebM, and common image formats (PNG, JPG, WebP).
Trimming Segments
Each video segment has independent trim-in and trim-out points. Trimming is non-destructive — the original file is never altered.
- Select a segment on the timeline to open the Segment Sidebar.
- Adjust the Trim Start slider or enter a time value to move the start of the clip forward.
- Adjust the Trim End slider or enter a time value to cut the end of the clip earlier.
- The preview updates in real time as you drag.
You can also drag the left or right edge of a segment directly on the timeline to adjust its trim points.
Reordering Segments
Drag any segment on the timeline left or right to change its position in the playback sequence. The other segments shift automatically to fill the gap.
Splitting a Segment
- Move the playhead to the point where you want to split.
- Select the segment you want to split.
- Click Split at Playhead in the Segment Sidebar.
- The segment is divided into two independent clips that you can trim, reorder, or delete separately.
Image Overlays
Overlays let you layer logos, watermarks, or decorative graphics on top of a video segment.
Adding an Overlay
- Select a segment to open the Segment Sidebar.
- Click Add Overlay.
- Upload a PNG (transparency is supported) or provide a URL.
- The overlay appears on the video preview.
Positioning and Resizing
- Drag the overlay in the preview to reposition it.
- Corner handles resize the overlay while maintaining aspect ratio.
- Edge handles allow independent width or height scaling.
Overlay Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Opacity | 0–100%. Set to less than 100% for watermarks or subtle branding |
| Start Time | When the overlay appears, relative to the start of the segment (seconds) |
| End Time | When the overlay disappears; leave blank to show for the full segment |
Removing an Overlay
Click the Remove (×) button on the overlay entry in the Segment Sidebar.
Transitions
Transitions are rendered between consecutive segments at export time.
- Select a segment in the Segment Sidebar.
- Under Transition, choose a style:
- None — hard cut (immediate switch)
- Fade — fade to black and back
- Dissolve — cross-dissolve between the two clips
- Wipe — slide one clip over the other
- Set the Duration (0.5–2 seconds).
Tip: The last frame of the previous segment is automatically captured and used as the first visual reference for transitions, giving a seamless look.
Removing Segments
- In the Video Segments panel, click the trash icon on any segment to remove it from the project.
- Removing a segment also removes any overlays and transitions associated with it.
